The customized smock, whether intended for the medical, industrial, school, or event sector, is a standard or semi-standard textile garment, whose customization is exclusively done on flat and accessible areas: generally the chest on the heart side (area of 90 × 60 mm), sometimes the back between the shoulder blades (250 × 180 mm), or the left sleeve for certain professional uses. The marking is done by direct embroidery, screen printing, or heat transfer, depending on the material and the planned duration of use. The smock is designed to be worn over clothing, with a loose fit, long or three-quarter sleeves, and a closure system with buttons, snaps, or a central zip. The fabrics used are polycotton (65/35), 100% cotton, recycled polyester, or treated technical fibers (stain-resistant, water-repellent, antibacterial), with a weight between 130 and 240 g/m² depending on the models. The seams must be double or reinforced at stress points (pockets, shoulders, cuffs), and the collars can be straight, V-neck, or Mao, depending on the uses. The pockets, in varying numbers, are either patch or inset, with reinforced hem or flap, often used as a visual anchor point for customization. Embroidery offers optimal resistance to industrial washing (up to 90 °C), while screen printing or transfer requires a temperature below 60 °C and ironing inside out to prevent peeling or flaking. Smocks intended for medical environments must meet certain standards (EN 13795, OEKO-TEX, sometimes EN 14126 for resistance to infectious agents), while models for hospitality, event, or school use focus on comfort, breathability, and colorfastness. Sizes range from XS to 5XL, with male/female or unisex sizing, sometimes with an adjustable belt or back pleats for ease. The customized smock can be white, blue, gray, green, or bicolored according to brand universes, but a light background remains the most favorable for clear marking. Disposable models in non-woven fabric (polypropylene 25-40 g/m²) also exist, but are not intended for durable customization: only stickers or temporary inkjet markings are applied. Packaging is done individually, folded under a transparent bag or in individual cardboard depending on the range, with an inner label for traceability, composition, standards, and washing instructions. Poor marking is quickly detected: visible weave on thin fabrics, pulled threads, off-center logo, transfer peeling off after the first wash. A good product, on the other hand, features stable stitching, centered printing, material suited for durability, and clear, calibrated marking proportional to the area. The customized smock is not just a simple textile garment: it is an identification surface worn over time, in real situations, subject to repeated movements, frequent washing, and comfort constraints. It therefore requires a rigorous choice, both textile, graphic, and functional.
