The custom bookmark is a thin, flat, and silent medium, designed to slip between two pages while discreetly maintaining the presence of a brand in the intimate universe of reading. Most often made of rigid cardboard weighing 300 to 400 g/m², with a matte, glossy, or soft-touch lamination for better durability, it can also exist in flexible PVC, recycled paper, finely cut wood, or engraved metal for more prestigious versions. Its standard size varies from 5 × 15 to 5.5 × 20 cm, but die-cutting allows for all kinds of creativity: rounded corners, notches, perforations with ribbons or tassels, original silhouettes linked to the brand's universe. The custom marking generally covers the entire surface, in four-color printing on one or both sides, with the possibility of selective varnish, hot stamping, embossing, or even scratch-off printing for an interactive effect. The printed message can be informative, poetic, graphic, or purely identity-driven, fitting into a less cluttered vertical visual space but with a very strong symbolic impact. Unlike many utilitarian promotional items, the bookmark is not handled constantly: it lives in a book, waits to be opened, accompanies a reading, then reappears, always at the right moment. This intermittent use paradoxically makes it very present: it becomes a companion to a novel, a professional work, a catalog, or a diary. Distributed flat, inexpensive to produce, it slips into a bag, an envelope, a package, or a file, and can also serve as an announcement medium, an invitation, a promo code, or an inspiring quote. It is often used in cultural, educational, editorial sectors, but can also accompany awareness, sponsorship, or employer branding campaigns. Its lightness, lack of technology, and timelessness make it a durable and non-perishable item: the bookmark is not thrown away, it does not break down, it does not go out of style — it is kept, rediscovered, sometimes passed on. In its high-end version, it can be magnetized (folded over the page), metallic, woven, or presented in an individual pouch. In summary, the custom bookmark is a delicate yet meaningful object, placing the brand in the noblest place possible: between the lines.
