The customized volleyball is a technical product subject to precise construction constraints, where the quality of the marking directly depends on the surface material, the method of panel assembly, and the curvature of the support. Marking is done by pad printing or screen printing, sometimes by thermal transfer for PU balls, on one of the 18 or 20 sewn or heat-bonded panels that make up the surface. The most suitable areas are the lateral, non-striped panels, approximately 60 × 40 mm, with moderate relief allowing a stable, smudge-free print. The ball typically measures 65 to 67 cm in circumference, with a weight between 260 and 280 g, in compliance with FIVB standards. The outer covering is made of soft PVC or microfiber polyurethane (PU) depending on the range: PVC is more economical but slightly sticky to the touch; PU, more silky, ensures better playing comfort and reduced sweat absorption. The internal structure includes a bladder made of butyl or latex, wrapped with polyester or nylon thread to maintain pressure and ensure a stable bounce. The air valve, placed on a centered panel, is self-sealing, with an inner diameter of 2.5 mm, and threading resistant to more than 1,000 inflations. The ball can be hand-stitched (visible raised stitching), machine-stitched (regular embedded stitches), or heat-bonded (smooth invisible junctions): this manufacturing mode directly influences the marking precision, especially in areas close to the seams. A pressure of 0.29 to 0.32 bar is recommended during inflation, with a pressure gauge, otherwise, the marking may deform or crack under tension. The printed surface must have been previously cleaned and degreased before printing to prevent peeling over time. The durability of the marking depends on the intensity of use: in school or event use, the visual remains legible for several months; in club or competition, faster wear is observed in contact with floors or sand. Some models, designed for outdoor use, receive UV treatment and a textured surface to improve grip on moist hands. The weight must remain constant even after 100 game cycles; a faulty bladder leads to mass variation or imbalance in trajectory. The seams must withstand repeated tension of 50 kg/cm, without breaking or deforming. A poorly calibrated ball shows irregular bounce, pressure drop after 48 hours, leaking valve, or lifting panel. A good ball, on the other hand, retains its shape, maintains its weight, offers a stable trajectory, and a well-positioned marking surface, without distortion, even when inflated to full pressure. The customized volleyball does not tolerate approximation: logo centering, ink clarity, panel uniformity, and assembly quality must all converge to ensure a product that is both playable and legible.
