It is made from polyamide, polyester fibers, or thermofixed short-pile velvet, with a non-slip backing made of nitrile rubber, PVC foam, or natural latex. The thickness varies between 5 and 10 mm depending on the model, which affects walking comfort, moisture absorption, and the ability to trap dirt without compromising the readability of the marking. The visual is printed in four-color process by direct fiber injection or flocked on the surface depending on the chosen technique: on textile mats, thermofixed dye jet printing is preferred for its resistance to industrial washing; on PVC or foam, screen printing or transfer is chosen. The marking, often large (600 x 400 mm, 900 x 600 mm, or larger formats), must be centered, balanced, and designed to remain legible despite repeated trampling. The logo should never be too thin or too contrasted, or it will visually wear out faster than the background. Some models are machine washable or pressure washable, while others are disposable for short-term operations, such as protective mats in car dealerships.
