The custom charging cable is a technical product whose structure requires precision, compatibility, and robustness. The marking is most often done on the connection housing, at the distributor for multi-connector models, or on the sliding strip of retractable versions, in pad printing, laser engraving, or UV printing, depending on the materials. The cables themselves, sheathed in TPE, braided nylon, or flat silicone, generally measure between 15 cm (keychain) and 120 cm (standard models), with tensile tolerance and flexibility tested over several thousand bending cycles. The available connectors vary according to usage: USB-A input, USB-C, micro-USB, and Lightning output, often combined on the same distributor, sometimes on rotating or magnetically detachable tips. The 3-in-1 format is the most common in promotional versions, compatible with 90% of current mobile devices. The supported amperage, rarely indicated, ranges from around 2 to 2.4 A for entry-level cables and up to 3 A for certified fast-charging models. Cables compatible with Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge (QC) must be rigorously tested to avoid overheating or charging interruptions and are not suitable for all adapters. The internal shielding may include a double layer of copper and aluminum to limit losses, with internal braiding that conditions resistance to twisting. The USB-C connector, now standard on recent phones, is often reversible, molded in a short housing with a visible metal tab. On premium cables, an LED might light up on connection, sometimes white, sometimes blue, indicating power-on. Compatibility with iPhones requires an integrated identification chip in the Lightning tip, especially for MFi (Made for iPhone) cables, but this type of product is rarely offered in customization without significant extra cost. The promotional cable often comes as a keychain with a carabiner, ABS capsule, or sliding pebble case; in all cases, the marking must remain legible despite rubbing in a bag or pocket. The logo is generally affixed on a flat surface 15 to 30 mm wide, in an area not subject to heat or tension from the cable itself. The lifespan largely depends on the molding of the connectors: single-piece injected versions hold up better than glued or clipped tips. CE and RoHS standards must be respected, sometimes with a mention of recycled materials used for eco-designed versions. The cable section, expressed in mm² or AWG (American Wire Gauge), is rarely indicated, but it directly affects the allowable current. A cable that is too thin causes power loss, especially beyond 1 meter. Some models are flat to prevent coiling, others twisted for better elasticity. Quality testing should include repeated plugging/unplugging (at least 3,000 cycles), electrical resistance measurement, and stability verification during charging. Finally, packaging plays a role in the visibility of customization: cardboard case, zip pouch with label, or rigid box with a transparent window, depending on the chosen positioning. A good custom charging cable is not judged by appearance but by use: current stability, connection comfort, internal solder resistance. A poor cable results in micro-cuts, disconnections, heated or deformed tips. These defects, invisible to the eye, render the object unusable. Real quality is therefore based on measurable and verifiable criteria, not on external appearance or aesthetic promise.
