The personalized keychain lamp combines two technical functions in a constrained format: lighting and attaching. The marking is almost always done on the body, by pad printing on ABS or metal, sometimes by laser engraving on aluminum models, with a usable surface ranging from 20 x 10 mm to 35 x 15 mm depending on the templates. The lighting is provided by a single LED, generally SMD or COB, with an intensity of 8 to 30 lumens as standard. The beam is fixed, non-adjustable, oriented along the axis of the keychain, sometimes with an integrated reflector or a simple convex lens to widen the angle. It is powered by a button cell (often CR2032, LR41, or AG3), replaceable via a screwed or clipped hatch, or by an integrated lithium battery for USB-rechargeable versions, the latter offering a runtime of 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the intensity. The power button is placed on the front, side, or bottom; it can be continuous press (hold to turn on) or click (on/off). Some models offer a sliding switch, more reliable against accidental activations in the pocket. The keychain part is nickel-plated steel, often with a 25 mm diameter ring, sometimes with a carabiner or quick-release system. The whole should weigh between 10 and 40 grams depending on the material: below, the object seems too light and unreliable; above, it becomes cumbersome for an ignition key or keyring. The body can be smooth, ribbed, or rubber-coated to improve grip. Some models include a matte diffuser to soften the light, others a red pointer laser, but the latter is rarely compatible with general public use. The advertising marking must withstand repeated friction in pockets or bags, without ink transfer or fading after a few days. The best-tested models withstand 2,000 on/off cycles without weakening the button or significantly reducing intensity. The operating temperature must remain stable (no noticeable heating), even after prolonged use. USB-rechargeable versions must include overcharge protection, often indicated by a bi-color LED (red during charging, green when finished). In case of outdoor exposure, an IPX2 to IPX4 rating is desirable, although still rare in this category. Some flat models may integrate a bottle opener or screwdriver tip, but each addition adds weight to the object and reduces the marking surface. The lighting should never hinder key handling: the button must remain accessible, the beam well-directed, the shape free of sharp edges. The whole must withstand ring twisting, accidental slipping, and everyday micro-shocks. A poorly designed keychain lamp is immediately noticeable: fickle button, random contact, false contact at the battery level, LED too weak or off-center. Conversely, a good model clearly illuminates a lock at a short distance, holds up without weakening, remains legible, and keeps the logo visible even after several weeks of real use.
