Promotional and custom umbrella

The personalized umbrella is a technical product composed of an articulated structure designed to create a protective surface against rain, with an advertising marking area directly applied on one or more sections of the fabric. It consists of three functional sets: a waterproof fabric (190T polyester, 210T pongee, or RPET), a rigid central shaft (steel, aluminum, or fiberglass), and a rib frame (usually 6 to 8, in metal, fiberglass, or a combination of both) articulated around a hub. The open diameter can vary from 85 to 130 cm, with a folded length ranging from 22 cm (three-section folding model) to 90 cm (manual or automatic golf model). The handle, straight or angled, is made of ABS plastic, EVA foam, varnished wood, or soft touch, with or without an integrated automatic opening button. The shaft is often telescopic on compact versions, with a locking spring and retaining ring.

The personalized marking is done on the fabric, usually on a single panel (approximately 180 × 120 mm) or on 2, 4, or 8 panels depending on the desired visibility, by direct screen printing, transfer, or digital printing (on white or light pongee only). The marking position is calculated 10–15 cm from the top, aligned with the rib, to remain visible without crease or tension. On models with black or dark fabric, a specific covering ink is used, with thermal drying and abrasion resistance testing (50 cycles of wet rubbing). Some high-end models allow for full sublimation marking before assembly, ensuring visual continuity without apparent seams. RPET fabrics are made from recycled bottles, woven, and then coated with polyurethane for optimal waterproofing while maintaining the necessary flexibility for folding.

The opening can be manual, automatic (spring button), or fully automatic (opening and closing via the same button). Fiberglass ribs offer superior wind resistance, with the ability to bend without breaking; some versions are windproof, with double articulation or inverted frame (retractable fabric upwards). The quality test includes: wind resistance at 50 km/h (wind tunnel or real condition test), fabric waterproofing (no droplet after 5 minutes under continuous rain), reliability of the opening/closing mechanism over 200 cycles, shaft solidity under torsion, and marking stability after prolonged exposure to humidity and UV.

The umbrella is delivered in a matching cover (customizable or not), with or without individual packaging, and packed in boxes of 25 to 50 units. A poorly designed umbrella shows twisted ribs, off-center marking, discolored fabric, a handle that rotates on itself, or a mechanism that locks after a few uses. A good personalized umbrella opens smoothly, remains stable even in strong winds, folds without force, keeps its fabric taut and its marking clear, straight, visible, durable, perfectly aligned with the object's architecture without compromising its resistance or protective function.
