The personalized terry towel relies on a precise balance between weight, loop density, absorption capacity, and useful marking surface, without which the item slips into the category of decorative textiles instead of fully serving its function. Cotton, either 100% or mixed with a small proportion of polyester, is the main material, but it is the weaving — particularly the density and length of the loops — that determines the softness and reactivity to water. A weight below 400 g/m² gives a thin towel, suitable for volume, but often considered too light for use ; from 500 g/m², comfort increases significantly, with a dense and soft feel that also allows for a more noble marking, especially in embroidery. The size varies depending on the intended use — guest, face, shower, bath, beach — and must be specified as it determines the area available for customization. An advertising towel is always worked flat: screen printing quickly fades on this type of textile, except in pressed hot transfer screen printing. Thus, embroidery predominates, in tone-on-tone for a discreet effect or in contrast to maximize visibility. The thread used — often polyester — must withstand chlorine, washing at 60°C, softeners, and mechanical friction. The position of the marking is not neutral: centered in the border (smooth band at the bottom of the towel), it ensures perfect visual retention; placed outside, it requires tight framing to avoid fabric waves. The border, moreover, can be jacquard woven in the mass or left blank for printing — but in this case, it must be rigid, neat, without floating threads. The cut, hems, square or rounded corners, and sewing finishes influence its longevity. A poorly finished towel pills, deforms, loses its fibers ; a good personalized towel retains its density, remains stable in washing, and keeps an intact marking wash after wash. Finally, the packaging — rolled, folded, under film or ribbon — modulates the perception upon delivery. When well thought out, the personalized terry towel is neither a mere textile nor an advertising derivative: it becomes an object of intimate, structured, recurring use, where every detail, from the choice of thread to the height of the border, transforms an absorbent surface into a durable brand vector.
