It is not an ornamental object; it is an extension of the hand in the dark. The beam must reach far without scattering, illuminate without heating, reassure without blinding. It is a useful, controlled light, not decorative. And it is precisely because the object fulfills its function without failing that the personalized marking becomes credible, legitimate. It does not shout, it exists. In the pocket, in the car, in a first aid kit, the flashlight is always there when everything else fails. It shines when there is nothing left.
